Research @Kansas State University
From January 2009 to May 2010 I have been leading a project supported by the National Agricultural Bio-Security Center.
Its goal was to extract domain-specific animal disease outbreaks from the web. The project had several development stages including information extraction and summarization. Information extraction and summarization involved the development of several IE components for tagging animal diseases, locations, species, and dates as well as the summarization component which produced structured summaries of the extracted animal disease outbreak. Some of the components were integrated during the Data Science Summer Institute at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Research @Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University
I have been a research fellow working with Oleksandr Trunov and an instructor at the Medical Equipment and Systems Department at the Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University in Ukraine for 2 years.
I worked on the development of effective algorithms and programming tools that can increase software reliability and quality of medical expert systems. I came up with a set of sufficient software quality attributes, reliability requirements and testing specifications for more efficient engineering of medical expert software systems.
Ukrainian Master Thesis
In April 2006 I was awarded the Best Student of the Year in Computer Science Award for my master thesis research.
